Striped red mullet - Triglia di scoglio

In this video

In this dive we met the Red mullet – Mullus surmuletus – in one of the many typical Mediterranean seabeds. As always, when we dive we try to film and document the marine species that populate our seas but also the conditions in which our sea is found.

The health of our sea is quite compromised as we know and also in this video you can see ghost or lost nets and trammel nets that damage the seabed on which it was thought to catch some fish including our mullets in the movie.

The damage is therefore obviously double, any type of fishing has now become indiscriminate and unsustainable, moreover losing several meters of nylon nets and trammel nets certainly does not help our sea to regenerate. Certainly a serious and structured fishing stop is needed, but it is also necessary that fishermen and anyone who drops a hook or any device into the sea become aware of the consequences that that gesture can cause.
