Forkbeard, (Phycis phycis), is a fish belonging to the class Actinopterygii, order Gadiformes and the family Phycidae. It is common throughout the Mediterranean Sea and lives at a depth ranging from 20 to 650 meters. It prefers the crevices of sandy or muddy cliffs because it is easily sheltered. It reaches 40-50 cm in length and a weight that can reach about 3 kg.
