Tle Blunt Arm Sea Star, Pentaster obtusatus, is a starfish belonging to the phylum Echinodermata, class Asteroidea, family Oreasteridae, which lives in the tropical Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean including the Philippine Islands and French Polynesia. During this dive I came across a strange pair of Mediterranean marine specimens. It is a European Lobster, Homarus gammarus, and a Leopard-spotted Goby that share the same cave; evidently there is a mutual convenience to which I cannot give a logical explanation. In fact, the European Lobster usually lives alone in the den that it has built and, in general, does not tolerate intrusions by others.
