The Aiptasia mutabilis is a antozoo belonging to the order of the Attiniari, subclass of the Hexacorallia, to the Aiptasiidae family spread in the Mediterranean Sea and the eastern Atlantic. It lives on rocky bottoms, inside ravines or in the midst of algae.
It has several long and translucent tentacles used by the anemone to capture the prey and to defend itself, by the emission of white stinging filaments, called Aconzie. The column is brown in color and the base is smaller in diameter, with which these invertebrates can either anchor firmly on a rock, or migrate in search of a safe place suitable for their needs.
